Cloud in a Jar

As part of our Science Inquiry we are learning the skill of observing.

We decided that this is how we observe something.

We were able to use these skills during a science experiment.
Our experiment was making a cloud in a jar.

We needed - a jar, hot water, hair spray, lid, ice

We put the hot water in the jar, sprayed hair spray in the jar then
covered the jar and put ice on the top.
We observed that a cloud formed in the jar. We also
observed that it moved.

The warm air mixed with the hair spray to make water vapour, which rose to the top of the jar
and was cooled by the cold lid (because of the ice).
It moved because the warm air moved to the top of the jar, cooled then lowered and then warmed and
rose again. Around and around...
When we took the lid off the cloud came out and the lid of the jar was wet where the
water vapour had condensed - just like rain.
